HeBrews Coffee Shop…

 We will open for business next weekend, first at the Doyle Dykes Concert where we will be selling concessions at intermission, and we will debut a brand new blend of coffee that can only be purchased in our coffee shop.  It will be called the HeBrews Blend, and we will also have a decaffeinated coffee for those who prefer it a little on the lighter side.

Baristas needed!

If you would like to train to be a barista, please let me know or sign up in your Sunday School class today.  This will be REAL training, and it will provide many of you high school students with a skill that will make you employable in coffee shops. This will be a great skill for high school students to take with them to college! Training is open to everyone seventh grade and older.

 Wednesday night at 6:30 THIS WEEK you will HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO HEAR A FANTASTIC, AWESOME, AND TIMELY GUEST SPEAKER in the sanctuary.  This is the second of two weeks when we will be meeting in the sanctuary with the adults.   Dennis Pethers will be here leading a bible study about the dangers facing Christianity in the west today. 

You don’t want to miss this one! bring your Bibles and some friends. We will be back on our regular schedule in the C.R.E.W. Quarters on march 7 and continue  our discussion of the dangers of lukewarm Christianity.  It will be the perfect complement to what you will be hearing Wednesday night.

ignite Light the Fire!

There will be a very important rehearsal this Wednesday at 7:30 in the Christian Life Center.  I would like to talk with you about some radical changes that are about to take place that might propel your ministry in a brand new and exciting direction.

East to West

Rehearsal is again today at 4:00.  We will be meeting all together in the CLC at the beginning of the rehearsal. We have a new sound system to break in today.

Xcelerate/d2L

Your regular meeting time is now Wednesday, 7:30 in the student center. I would like for Xcelerate to discuss upcoming projects and assign video editing tasks from Operation Snowball and from ignite’s recent projects. Everyone should report to the c.r.e.w. quarters right after the service with Dennis Pethers, and we will meet around the tables in the coffee shop.  I will be dividing my time between your group and the drama team.

PLEASE SIGN UP TODAY IF YOU PLAN TO COME! I MUST ORDER TEE SHIRTS VERY SOON. Don’t wait until the last minute.  When is the last minute?  We are living in the last days now, and next Sunday may be the end of sign-ups.  Invite your friends this week.  If you have ever been to an Invasion, you know what a great event it is.  It is scheduled for April 19-22! Cost this year is the same as last, $50 per participant. If you can’t afford it, let me know.  You don’t want to miss this one.  Registration includes your meals, a tee shirt, program fee, recreation, and all Bible study materials.

I NEED FEMALE CHAPERONS for the Florida mission trip June 11 – 16 and I need both male and female chaperons for Caswell July 23-28.  If you have a parent who would like to go, have him/her call me ASAP.

Friends and Family Night, one of our three major fund raisers for summer missions, will be held on February 25 this year.  If your parents missed the meeting last Sunday morning, please make sure to get your tickets from me ASAP.  They have already gone on sale.  Tickets for the barbecue dinner and auction are $10 each, and try to sell as many to people outside our church as possible.  It will be a great event!

It is very important for you to sell all of your tickets.  We must raise almost $8,000.00 to break even on the two mission trips this summer.  Next year’s trip will likely be even more expensive, and we need to raise a little of that money through the fund raisers this year. We have 50 signed up to participate this summer, and that is an increase over last year.  So…PLEASE HELP US BY SELLING TICKETS!

Next Parent Meeting will be on February 19…and that is NEXT SUNDAY MORNING at 9:00 in the CREW Quarters.  At that time, all ticket money is due.  It would be WONDERFUL if each of you could bring in $100 from sold tickets.

Rehearsal is today at 4:00.  Please note that this is a shift to thirty minutes earlier because of the need to get our practice in prior to the ladies’ Bible study that starts at 5:30.   All middle school student members need to be present and on time today as well.  Important rehearsal today!

I would like for you to meet separately again this week.  I would like for d2L to work on moving and setting up the sound system for the c.r.e.w. quarters. I would like for Xcelerate to begin editing video from Operation Snowball and from ignite’s recent projects. Everyone should report to the c.r.e.w. quarters first, and we will divide up from there. Andrew and Ian, we need tee shirts for this organization.  Please come prepared to begin the process of designing them this week.

Really big day today!  This will be our first Sunday in the new c.r.e.w. quarters.  Unless otherwise noted, all youth events will be held in there from now on.

Hang Time 6:00 Wednesday

The Youth House will not be open for Hang Time will this week since the Christian life Center is now open.  Just gather in the c.r.e.w. quarters. Just remember not to run, throw anything, etc.

The Guys/The Gems met this past Wednesday night, so we could switch Bible Study to tonight during the halftime of the Super Bowl. These organizations will NOT meet again tonight but will resume their regular schedules next week.

WINTER JAM!!!

Many of you expressed an interest in attending Winter Jam.  It is on Friday evening at the Bi-lo Center in Greenville, SC.  I need an accurate count today of who is going so I can arrange transportation.  Last year, some were left behind because they didn’t sign up soon enough, and there was no room left in the inn…or on the van either.  If you sign up to go, please clear it with your parents first because they will have to agree for you to leave school early.  We will meet in the parking lot at 1:30.  Eat before you come.  We will stop along the way to allow you to get something to take with you to eat for supper, but you cannot take backpacks into the arena, so do not bring anything of the sort.  WE WILL NOT GO IF IT IS RAINING!!! PLEASE WATCH THE WEATHER.  IF IT IS RAINING, AND THE TRIP IS CANCELLED, I WILL LET YOU KNOW BEFORE YOU GET OUT OF SCHOOL.  We cannot stand out in the rain for two or three hours, and we cannot plan to bring umbrellas because some venues will not allow them inside. You must bring $10 to get in, and any spending money you would like.  Please bring the correct change so that you are not trampled by the crowd while waiting for it. We may stop on the way back for a snack at a pantry, so plan accordingly.  We should be home between 12:30 and 1:00 a.m.

Today marks a milestone of sorts. Beginning today, CREWLINES will be much SHORTER.  Over the course of the next few weeks, we will begin a transition to PODCASTING CREWLINES and uploading the podcast to the website.  We also plan to begin showing it on Sunday mornings.  The basic information will still be in print form, but the details will be contained in the podcast.  More information on the way.

 I NEED CHAPERONS for both mission trips and Caswell.  If your parents would like to go, and you don’t mind their going, have them call me ASAP.

THE NEW “C.R.E.W. MINISTRIES RECEPTION/information CENTER” is now open.  Please have your parents stop by there to pick up information about upcoming events and to sign you up and pay for those events.  Student ministry tee shirts will also be available for purchase there a $10 each.

Winter Retreat

Your mission, should you decide to accept it, is to locate and infiltrate the sacred writings of the world’s only true faith, codename: “BIBLE,” and seek out the hidden forces of evil planning the ultimate act of terror…the total destruction and annihilation of mankind on planet earth.  You will rendezvous for this assignment at mission headquarters (EBC) on January 27 at 17:00 hours (5:00) to begin your quest.  This newsletter might self-destruct in five seconds…but I seriously doubt it.

My rooming list is due at the retreat center tomorrow morning.  Please sign up for a roommate today.  I will have to assign you to a room after today.

The Youth House will not be open for Hang Time will this week since the Christian life Center is now open.  Just gather in the c.r.e.w. quarters. Just remember not to run, throw anything, etc.

The Guys/The Gems will be meeting at 6:00 tonight.   The Guys will meet in the c.r.e.w. quarters to pack backpacks for Backpack Buddies .  We will need some volunteers who can come by Tuesday morning to help us move some items out of the student center and into the gym. Ryan Jaynes will also be sharing the message this evening.  The Gems will be meeting in the Youth House and making some important plans for the clothing closet, the new meeting space, and upcoming events.

ignite Light the Fire! Your rehearsal will be Wednesday at 7:30 in the Christian Life Center on the new stage. You will be working on a number of upcoming projects, among them, completing several promotional videos to be aired soon…and possibly some more projects that just came up this week. You will also be supplying the actors for the upcoming podcasts.

Rehearsal resumes this afternoon at 4:30.  We need to consider moving our rehearsal time to 4:00 for a few weeks.  We will meet first in the Youth House and then begin moving onto the new stage...unless it is raining or unless you decide to do that on Tuesday while you’re out of school.  If you play a band or orchestra instrument and would be willing to play for worship, please plan to begin rehearsal with us today.

WINTER JAM!!!

Many of you expressed an interest in attending Winter Jam.  Because of some issues that other local youth groups had at the Charlotte event last year, I have decided that if we want to attend, we need to try again for the one in Greenville, SC.  It is on Friday evening, February 10.  One of the concerns from parents about the one tonight was the late hour when you would be returning.  The one in February is on a Friday night, so that won’t be a problem…but, if you sign up, remember that you would have to leave school just after lunch on the tenth.
